- Choose a pattern for your blanket. Patterns for temperature blankets range from simple or complex, so it’s easy to find one to fit your skill level and personal taste. I have a ripple knit or a crochet version for a basic design as a free pattern for you..
- Decide on a color scheme for your blanket. There are many different ways to approach this step, so take some time to think about what you want your blanket to look like. Do you want to use a rainbow of colors, or a gradient of shades? Rainbow is a classic choice, but you might prefer a tonal shade range that better coordinates with your existing home decor. The choice is up to you, so you can be creative and have fun with it.
- Choose which temperature you will record. Will it be the daily high, low, or average temperature? Recording the average temps might give you a smoother gradient, while recording the highs might give you more distinct stripes. You can choose the year ahead or a specific year like a birth year.
- Create a temperature chart. Then, create a chart that outlines which yarn to use for which temperature ranges. For example, if the daily highs in your location range from 1-45, I suggest 9 colours with 5 degrees in each colour.
- I have divided the packs in to to two options, A buy it all at once option or a two part option. The two part option makes more sense as we dont know how much of each colour you will need and this will allow you to swap and change the second shipment to reflect how the project is going.
- The two shipment option will have the two lots of shipping in the first payment. This means your second lot will just be the amount of balls you will need to finish only and the post is already paid. If you choose not to take the second lot of yarn, the second lot of postage will be refunded in full to you. The first payment will include half the yarn, the pattern, a sorting card and $22 of postage.
- Dye lots. I will put aside all the yarn at the time of the first order, this will ensure you have the dyelots, however if you need more of something that is not in the pack I cant guarantee dye lots. The best thing about temperature blankets is that the dyelots is not gong to cause a huge problem.
- Changes as you go. If you need to make changes to quantity or colours we can do that via email or phone, which ever is easier.
- The kit will have 16 balls. the 5 middle colours will have 2 balls each and the 2 colours each end will have just one ball. All of this is sunject to change if you want it.
